I wanted to share this project with you all so you can see why I’ve been painting a little less than usual – at least I’m still being creative!

John and I recently moved to Orange County from Texas.  We vacationed at the Marriott Vacation Club in Newport Beach and it didn’t take long to sell us on the idea of making Southern California our future home!  While house hunting, we decided to throw caution to the wind and use all of our skills (gathered spending countless hours watching HGTV) to take on our own renovation! Oh my! I had no idea what I was getting into.  I ended up doing the majority of the planning, etc as John has an 8-5 job and I do not.  The process was fascinating and a true crash-course in home ownership. I didn’t anticipate the amount of work and process of dealing with permits, moody contractors, HOA and termites – YUCK! The project cost twice what we anticipated and took 3 times longer! Of course being new to it, we didn’t make alternate arrangements and had to live through the process – this I would not recommend! Our poor Shih tzu couldn’t walk through the house for a couple of weeks because of nails sticking up through the floors! I had to carry him like a baby!

When it was all said and done we were so pleased with the final project. We were also very excited to make a little $$ for our time when the house sold! 😉 I highly recommend putting your own stamp on a home.  There is nothing quite like it!  On to the next…
