Biography
Olivia Bennett is a 20 year old nationally recognized art prodigy who found her artistic gift at age five, while battling A.L.L. Leukemia. What started as a hobby and escape from her cancer treatment turned into a passion and full-time career. Olivia sold her first piece at the age of 8 and was excited to discover that someone loved her work enough to purchase it. From there, Olivia started showing Olivia's work at local art fairs around Texas. At age 12, Olivia received national attention after her meeting with President Bush and her appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show. In 2003, Olivia was named "One of Twenty Teens Who Will Change the World" by Teen People Magazine for her entrepreneurial and philanthropic work.
Olivia continued to travel and sell her work at shows and in galleries and at the age of 14, she self-funded and opened The Olivia Bennett Art Gallery in Southlake, TX. She has one self-published book, "A Life in Full Bloom" and several other books featuring her work/story.
Often compared with artist, Georgia O'Keeffe, Olivia is recognized for her colorful watercolor and oil paintings depicting floral, wildlife and landscapes themes. Her work is currently selling online, at the Olivia Bennett Gallery (new location in Southlake Texas) and at private events and showings.
In October, 2009 Olivia opened the Olivia Bennett Art Gallery in its new location (Southlake Town Square, Southlake,TX). The gallery features over 50 original pieces, limited edition prints and merchandise. In addition, the gallery will start a variety of art classes in January 2010. (All ages). Olivia is very dedicated to giving back and volunteering. She is currently working with the Mark Victor Hansen Foundation, Lance Armstrong Foundation, Junior League of Dallas, Children's Cancer Fund, Cook Children's, and many more local and national charities.
